>> I would imagine that the best scenario would be to use a very beefy intel-based PC with an overhead projector and << My experience with today's dictation software is that it is right about 95% of the time with simple essays and e-mails. I once tried to dictate a quiz bowl packet - HS level even - and the accuracy level dropped to around 60%. Quiz Bowl uses convoluted syntax and technical terms that jump around many subject areas. Moreover, even to get that level of accuracy, I had to "train" the program for over two hours. While this wouldn't be an issue for regular moderators, it would be a large investment of time for someone to come in to just read one round. To effectively dictate, you also have to talk like William Shatner, clearly seperating each word. To perhaps improve upon this idea, you could use the dictation software to find the breaks in words and then display the next word in the question from a source file. This wouldn't be too difficult to make, especially with Dragon Systems dictation going into a WordPad document in a VB OLE object in a VB server - it could check when a new word was added, and then display the next word from a source file (simple since the packets need to be written first). If quiz bowl could settle on a format for saving packets, the source files could be easily imported. HTML would probably be best. Just my 45 Lira
