I think the point was that the Greek language
doesn't have a letter than looks like an English g with a
dot over it, not that it doesn't have an equivalent
of the letter G. Gamma doesn't look at all like a g.
Maltese has a letter that literally is an English looking
g with a dot over it. I guess a rho sort of looks
like a lowercase g, but not really as the Greeks right
it and you wouldn't put a dot over it.
