Geez, take a few weeks at home without the Internet and everyone thinks you're dead. Or is that hopes? Anyway, I'm here to announce that, yes, FOIST is written, ready, and rarin' to go. Some quirks of the rules: * There are power marks. * There will be screwing (by a vote of 2-1 in my email). However, once the "individual" (i.e., 2-player, not multi-player) competition begins, we will reconsider. * There will be the occasional Triple Play Block. At certain times, there will be three related questions in a row (don't worry, this does not violate any distributional rules). You will be warned of the impending theme. * Tiebreakers (in lieu of OT): 1. Most TUs (0/3/1 beats 1/1/0) 2. Fewest negs (1/2/0 beats 2/1/1) 3. Squatter's rights... for example: say the score entering the final Q is A 85, B 80, C 50, D 40. On the last questions, A negs and D gets 10. Since C was at 50 before D, C is ahead. Since B arrived at 80 before A, B is ahead. 4. Result on the question that forced the tie (if a simultaneous neg and 10 make the tie). 5. Coin flip (Note: we will only need this for players tied at 0/0/0). Right now, I have 23 players signed up. They are: Fine, Neuhaus, Fleming, Gross, Clavenger, Rantz, Schluessel, Nielsen, Dinan, Keller, Nam, Needle, Levit, Wolpert, Lafer, Philpy, Castagna, Paul, Walker, Perry, Stratton, Edwards, and a fiance to be named later. If this number holds, I will allow 2 people to fill vacant slots during the day, to cap it at 25. This, of course, is dependent on those spots not being filled by registration with Edmund by... well, tonight. Okay, my 30 minutes are up. Thanks for bearing with me and I'll see everyone on Saturday for the Presidential and FOIST, then on Sunday for CP and HR! Andy Goss Author/Director, FOIST
