Okay, I'm serious this time. :) Edmund has written me to say that he likely won't have the energy left at the end of the day to play. To be on the safe side, I wrote our schedule with him out. If he's in, I can literally whip up a new one on-site. The Pauls are not making the trip. This reduces the field to 25. Here's how it'll go. ROUND 1: Five groups of five, random draw. 60 questions, one screw. ROUND 2: Re-assignment based on results. First place players stay still, second placers move one room, etc. 60 questions, one screw. ROUND 3: All those with similar results in the same room. 60 questions, one screw. Cutoff is at 16th. FUDGE ROUND: 4th-7th, 9th-12th, 15th-16th. Separate rooms. 20 questions, one oh-so-important screw. Now, the top 16 as seeded will play a double-elimination with 20 questions each round. Meanwhile, the remaining 9 will play a quasi round-robin. "Quasi" in that they'll play everyone once, but they'll do it two at a time. Here's the pattern: Game 1: A-E-I; B-F-G; C-D-H Game 2: C-E-G; B-D-I; A-F-H Game 3: A-D-G; B-E-H; C-F-I Game 4: A-B-C; D-E-F; G-H-I 2 standings points for first, 1 for second. Most points gets the consolation win. I think that's everything. If it isn't, you'll know where to find me today. Andy Goss FOIST
