Villanova Academic Competition Club is proud to announce that it will host the 2001 Mid-Atlantic TRASH Regional tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, November 10, in Tolentine Hall amid the rolling hills of Villanova's suburban Philadelphia campus. Just about anyone who wants to put a team together is eligible. The tournament fees are as follows: FIRST TEAM - $75 SECOND TEAM - $60 THIRD+ TEAMS - $50 each DISCOUNTS BUZZER - $10 each GAME OFFICIAL - $10 each DISTANCE - $10 if you're coming at least 100 miles away for said tournament. These prices include one pizza per team for lunch. Additonal pizzas will be $10. But wait! There's more... As an added bonus, there will be extra discounts for schools who have decided to make the 2001 TRASH Regional their first ever pop-culture tournament. Since the regular first team price is $70, the price for so-called "virgin pop culture schools" will be half off - $35. (There are, of course, several reasons why schools who are wont to play in only more traditional tournaments should come try out TRASH. My favorite is that you get to beat teams who normally would beat you in a standard academic-type tournament. And you'd finally get to find out just where Villanova actually is.) And a free gift just for trying it out.... Heavy Rotation IV will also be held at TRASH Regionals. The format will be like previous Heavy Rotations; Edmund Schluessel will once again be digging through the stacks of wax to assure quality. (More info to come.) And just so you know... Villanova is located 10 miles west of Philadelphia, easily accessible by several major highways and by rail. Information about lodging will be forthcoming. I hope to see you there.
