In regard to the FOIST results, this: >14. John McGhee should read thus: 14. James McGhee Regarding the singles tournaments: They were lots of fun. Mad props to Andy, Matt and those involved with Heavy Rotation. (Question for someone in the know: What was the jazz piece in the first round of HR?) So were the team tournaments. Same to Subash and Edmund, and all the GW folks involved in both. A problem that hasn't been mentioned yet cropped up a lot in the three days. There were a bunch of repeats between the singles and team tournaments (with the academic ones being more of a problem, IIRC), leading to a lot of fraudulent points by myself and others. In the future, those writing singles tourneys should write some extra questions and have someone quickly plug them in once the team tourney's questions are available. I also suggest that those attending three days' worth of quizbowl get lots of sleep in the preceding days. Furthermore, those familiar with the John Tesh masterwork "Sax on the Beach" should beware lest they neg on "Bleeding Gums Murphy," who apparently had an album of the same name. Of course, since the question mentioned something about "only album," I should have held off, since Tesh also created, among other things, the equally stellar "Sax by the Fire." Dave
