As the ACUI National Program Team Chair for College Bowl I would like to add my thoughts to this important discussion. We have all been affected by this incomprehensible tragedy in some way. I stood on top of that magnificent building last summer with my children and we took in the glorious views of New York and happily shared the morning with vistors from all over the world. Although we didn't speak the same language we all understood the signs for "please take our picture and we'll take yours." It was a time and place for pure enjoyment and admiration for the human ingenuity and strength it took to build it. It takes no such strength to destroy. Those of us who think and create can never understand the mentality of those who destroy. Let us think carefully as we ponder our future together. Let us not confuse the thinkers and the destoyers by appearance or religious beliefs. It is too tempting to simplify our world in those terms, but the world is not simple. For those among us who may be fearful or irrationally angry at this time I would ask you to visit the ACUI site stophate.org or write to stophate_at_.... People and resources are there and presented with a strong committment to the ending of hate crimes in our world, the world of thinkers and creators. Respectfully, Don Tucker
