Regarding Isaeli/Palestinian issues, I've heard a
book called Peace Process by some Quandt dude is
supposed to be good.
Regarding "Muslim politics", I
highly recommend a book by that name by Dale Eickelman
and James Piscatori. I also got a lot of good out of
my undergraduate textbook Politics in the Middle
East by James A. Bill and Robert
Springborg.
