The Washington University Academic Team is
pleased to announce the 4th Annual Washington University
High School Academic Challenge, to be held Saturday,
January 19th, 2002, in Saint Louis, Missouri.


WUAT is proud to announce the association of its
tournament to the Partnership for Academic Competition
Excellence, an organization dedicated toward improvement of
academic competition nationwide. Two, or possibly four
will be able to qualify for participation at the PACE
National Tournament, to be held this year at George
Washington University in Washington DC, on June 15-16,
2002.

Summary of Tournament Format:
The WU High School
Academic Challenge will be run in a bracketed round robin.
Each school will be divided according to geographic
distribution, enrollment, and relative team strength. Top teams
from each bracket will move on to a single elimination
playoff. The number of teams will be capped at 48. To
ensure your spot, we encourage teams to register early.
In addition, the number of teams per school will be
limited to two with a third team being placed on a
first-come first-serve wait list.

Rounds will be in
the normal college format of 20 tossups and 20
bonuses, all worth 30 points. No penalty will be given for
incorrect interrupts, and bonus parts can be rebounded.


Tournament Schedule:
We are planning to begin the
tournament at 9:00AM and complete all matches (including
playoffs) by 6:00 PM. There will be a one-hour lunch break,
with lunch provided by the Washington University
Office of Admissions.
