Quiz bowl isn't a game of knowing things. It's a
game of knowing _ABOUT_ things. In order to play good
quiz bowl I don't need to know physics, I need to know
_about_ physics.
What you do in advanced (i.e.
beyond a survey course) study of an academic area is
explore concepts deeply and, often, subjectively. That
someone is a ______ major doesn't imply in any way that
they know more 'facts' about that area than someone
who learns about that area in a non-academic
setting.
As was clear when we had the major/distribution
discussion earlier, the game isn't designed to be a mirror
of the college experience.
