<<The funny thing is, Beall isn't profiting
from our questions -- the Twenty Questions thing is a
complete ego exercise for anyone who wants it. The winner
receives (last I checked) nothing, the event costs (last I
checked) nothing, and the point of the whole thing is
(last I checked) nothing. So where's the
profit?>>
The winner qualifies for the NAC (more of a penalty
than a reward if you ask me), and the fact that the
Twenty Questions itself is free doesn't change that fact
that it is run by a for-profit company as a way of
advertising their for-profit ventures. None of this, of
course, matters; try plagiarizing your next term paper
and arguing that it's okay because you're not selling
it.
