The reincarnation of the Sunshine State Invitational featured 21 teams from across the Southeast travelling to 80 degree temperatures in Gainesville, FL. The 10 teams competing in Division I played a full round robin with the top four teams advancing to a single elimination playoff. The 11 Division II teams (players in their first or second years of intercollegiate competition, community colleges, and Taylor County High School) played a full round robin. In Division II, Florida State C went undefeated at 10-0 to win the title with Valencia CC A (9-1) taking second place. In Division I, FSU A (8-1), FAU A (7-2), Ga. Tech alums (7-2), and UGA (6-3) advanced to the playoffs. In the semifinals, Ga. Tech alums beat FAU A 420-250 and FSU A beat UGA 420-170. In the consolation game, FAU A beat UGA 275-220 to take third. In the championship game, Ga. Tech alums came back from 100 down after 15 questions to edge FSU A 310-275 and claim the championship. Individual All-Stars in Division II were James from Valencia (49 ppg), Oseirus from FSU C (46.5), Jessica from Taylor Co High (37), Virginia from Valencia A (34), and Shannon from UTC (25.5) Individual All-Stars in Division I were Raj from FAU (94.4 ppg), Chip from FCCJ (81.1), Chris from Berry (70), Nathan from FSU A (67.2), and Mike from Ga. Tech alums (54.4). Full stats will follow.
