ok, since there is a huge talk about racism in a simple post that was made with the use of a COMPUTER PROGRAM, I though my 2 cents might as well be tossed in this mess. I played on the Michigan HS circuit from 1996-2000 and let me tell you, there was diversity all over there--in fact my team arguably was the most diverse team: 2 Indians 4 Asians (all of Taiwanese origin) 1 White boy (me...but technically Armenia is in Asia, but that is a different topic altogether) Let me tell you a little something about our team--people would have thought we were racist towards the all white programs because well, the majority of the players were Asian and had an Asian supremacy head trip every time they played quiz bowl. Now, let me also tell you that the majority played quiz bowl for fun and the Asian supremacy was just a joke to show that Asians were smart and all the other stereotypes that fit them (they were basically mocking their own stereotypes by fulfilling them--sort of paradoxical and confusing I know). Being the only white guy, did I think they were racist cause they wanted to beat the all-white teams? Hell no. I knew it was all for fun because we were all joking around all the time--plus me being the 'token' white guy--I knew it was for fun. Now, being the only one from that HS team thats on the college circuit, I have to say that seeing a post in ebonics is more humorous in a funny way then humorous in a racist way because it used a COMPUTER PROGRAM. I'm not going to say anything about the poster who started this debate because I feel whatever that needs to be said to him has been said- apologies for the long post Armen
