Announcing: The First Annual (?) Dave Thomas Memorial Treasure Tournament (One Mans Trash is Another Mans Treasure.) at the University of Georgia. Date: Saturday March 23,2002 The tournament is open to anyone who wants to play. The cost is low, but the quality will be high. The tournament will take place at the UGA School of Law in Athens, Georgia. Specific rooms, directions, and start times will be announced later. The tournament is a packet submission tournament. In order to offer balanced rounds of play, please submit a packet of 23 tossups, and 23 bonuses, strictly adhering to the following distribution: For tossups and bonuses: Movies: (5 total) --2 concerning movies made prior to 1960 (**these can be questions about actors/actresses, writers, directors, composers, etc.) --3 concerning movies made after 1960 (see **) Television: (5 total) --2 or 3 pre-1975 (see **) --depending on the # of pre-1975, 3 or 2 post-1975 (see **) Music: (5 total) --2 or 3 pre-1975 --depending on the # of pre-1975, 3 or 2 post-1975 Sports: (4 total) --no more than one question involving any one sport Literature/Comics (2 total) --can be books, magazines, etc. Open (2 total) --cannot be questions which would fit into previous categories --suggested topics: restaurants, food, internet, current events, toys, etc. Note: As science-fiction related questions can pervade numerous categories, do not write any more than 3 total questions relating to science-fiction for your tossup section, and your bonus section. Also: Please write clean questions, and do not write about pornography. Cost: $80 base fee $10 off if packet submitted by 3-3-02 11:59:59 PM $5 off for each buzzer (limit two (2) ) $10 off for bringing game official (limit one (1) $10 off for traveling over 100 miles $10 off for second team from same school MINIMUM FEE: $40 Format: Untimed 20 question rounds. Unique feature: Three or fours rounds will have a special game show themed halftime where players can earn points for their teams by playing in a brief mock version of a game show. Game shows being considered for such homage include: Match Game, The $25,000 Pyramid, The Price is Right (probably Plinko), Password, and Smush.. Packet Deadline: Sunday 3/10/02 at 11:59:59 pm.
