I think that Eric has a very good analysis of why a lot of us (myself included) respect NAQT more than CBI. I am glad that the number of teams participating is even greater than what I counted. I am glad that D2 expansion is occurring in this method, and I think it would make a wonderful story if one of those CC teams won the D2 title. Sort of like a cinderella team during March Madness. Not that I think surprises like that _should happen_, just that if it did, I think it would be magical (except perhaps to those teams who thought they would win, but end up losing). If circuit growth is to continue, one must take into consideration why College Bowl is the way it is. The answer is not "because they're a bunch of idiots (or at least not mostly). At this point, bashing CBI on the circuit can become counter-productive. One, we're mostly preaching to the choir in here. Two, we're turning off some people who find College Bowl Regionals an enjoyable weekend and actually want to qualify for Nationals. Three, we come off looking like nuts to some of these once-a-year schools who genuinely had a good time with College Bowl. I actually bother to talk to these people without an open agenda that I'm pushing. That's how some people see some representatives of the circuit. And, frankly, some of that behavior has probably hurt a few teams in receiving funding. Anthony, who isn't afraid to use a sports analogy when talking about quizbowl
