Roger wrote, "And 'Felix Krull' is more difficult
than 'The Magic Mountain,' but perhaps not as
difficult as, say, 'Tonio Kroger.'"
For the record,
as a German major at one school who is dating a
German major at another school who has friends who are
German majors at still other schools, it seems that
every single German department of which I am aware
requires the reading of "Tonio Kroeger" at some point.
However, in my nine years of studying German, I have never
even heard of "Felix Krull".
