Not to completely rehash old subjects again and again, but basically
Matt has documented this over the past two years. Since we know that
coaches generally read this web site (and that alumni of programs do
too :) ), the fact remains that to our knowledge Chip has never been
directly confronted (i.e., face-to-face at NAC) about his questions.
Of course, there are enough stories about how Chip handles such
confrontations (including a story last year where a protest by
Parkersburg South? was denied because it came "too late" after the
protesting period).
Regardless some of the best HS teams and coaches still go to his
tournaments, so apparently they don't have any ethical problems with
it. So I suppose there is no need to defend it if everyone likes his
tournament "atmosphere" anyway.
