The problem with teaching it in a high school is that there is no
time for it. I taught World History and the only times Asia came up
was feudal Japan, WWII, and Vietnam. Most schools these days have
standardized exams that, much to my dismay, they have to teach, and
Asia is not that important to them. If teachers were given the chance
to teach what THEY thought was important, things I feel would be
better, but until the schools let them do that, we are at the mercy
of school boards. If someone wants to learn about Asian culture, then
they can do that in college.
