PACE announces and congratulates the recipients of the 2002 Benjamin
Cooper Memorial Academic Ambassador Award, to be presented at the
2002 National Scholastics Championship on Saturday, June 15.
This year, PACE awards TWO separate awards to
Douglas A. Tyson of Benjamin Banneker High School (Washington DC) for
his service to bringing academic competition to high school students
in the Washington DC metro area
and
The "It's Academic" television program (produced by Sophie Altman and
family) which is primarily based in Washington DC with programs run
in other parts of the country (such in as Baltimore MD, Cleveland OH,
and Raleigh NC) for its influence in raising and maintaining interest
in academic competition for at least four decades.
