Hello All, This is an announcement for the 2002 edition of the Chicago Open modified ACF masters tournament to be held on Saturday, July 27. The tournament will be written entirely by me so no packet submission to worry about. Matches will consist of 20 tossups and accompanying bonuses following standard ACF distribution, with the adjustment of 1/1 trash (pop culture/sports) added into the distribution. Difficulty will be similar to years past, and if anyone would like further clarification on this please e-mail me. At this point, I plan on writing 15 packets and will cap the field at 14 teams; Teams may consist of up to four players, and beyond that there are no eligibility requirements as this is a fully open tournament. Prizes, in the forms of books and other things that aren't trophies, will be awarded to the top two teams, top all-undergrad team (if there are at least four undergrad teams present and if this team is not one of the top two), and top six scorers. If there is enough interest (eight teams or 16 players), then I will mirror GW's trash tournament or a possible singles tournament on Sunday. So please indicate if you would be interested in accompanying events when you e-mail me to register for the academic tournament. Fee structure: Base fee - $90 per team Buzzer discount - $5 per working buzzer (limit 2 and they better work or I'm going to add you to my necklace of skulls) Also, If anyone would like to moderate or help out, I'll pay $20 for the whole day or $10 for half the day. (I know its not much but enough to buy yourself 5 copies of the Signet Classic editions of Pride and Prejudice or reserve 1 copy of my future biography, Illini 2000: An Acolyte's Guide to Vishnu Jejjala: The Man, the Miracle, and QB Hero). Anyway, if you'd like to play or help out in the tournament or have any other questions, please e-mail me at suby10_at_y... or subash_at_u... Look forward to seeing many of you this summer, Subash
