The University of Illinois Academic Buzzer Team wishes to announce that it will host Illinois Open 2002: Urbana Renewal, a packet-submission, modified-ACF style tournament on Saturday, November 9th, in conjunction with TRASH regionals to be hosted the following day. This tournament is being mirrored on the west coast by the fine folks at Berkeley. Tournament details and question distribution are described below. In Lincoln Hall, on the University of Illinois campus in "scenic" Urbana-Champaign. Eligibility: This tournament is open to all who wish to enter, organized into teams as they see fit, with the caveat that individuals may only play for one team during the course of the tournament. I will be happy to put free agents in contact with potential teams. There will be a title awarded to the top collegiate team, should that team not also be the overall winner. Format: Packets will consist of 20 tossups with accompanying bonuses, read in two untimed halves. The tournament will be a full round-robin, with playoffs if necessary. If a ton of teams sign up, we'll do brackets. Questions: All teams who wish to attend must submit a packet, or have permission from me beforehand. Packets are due no later than midnight, October 20th.
