Albemarle High School is located in Charlottesville, Virginia and is coached by Matt Clay. Albemarle is active in VHSL and previously attended invitational circuit events. Since 2009, the school had included the Math, Engineering, and Science Academy.

In VHSL, Albemarle was part of the VHSL Northwest Region until the 2014 VHSL Realignment. Between then and the 2018 VHSL Realignment, the school was part of VHSL Region 5A North. Starting with the 2017-18 season, Albmarle will be part of VHSL Class 5 Region D.

Albemarle won the VHSL State Championship in the 5A division in 2014 and 2015, defeating Thomas Jefferson both times. In 2015, Albemarle player Quinn LeGallo-Malone was the second-highest scorer at the tournament with 375 points. They placed second to Thomas Jefferson at the 2002 AAA State Championship. Albemarle won the Northwest Region tournament in 1999, 2002, 2005, 2007, and 2011, and placed second in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2013. After the realignment, Albemarle won the 5A North tournament in 2014 and 2015, and placed second in 2016 and 2017. Albemarle won the Conference 16 tournament in 2014, 2015, and 2016, and placed second in 2017.

Albemarle placed second at the 2014 Cavalier Classic and third at the 2015 NAQT Virginia State Championship.

Albemarle attended the 2014 NSC and the 2015 NSC, placing T-73rd and T-52nd, respectively.
