Jakob Myers is a Ph.D student in African history at Indiana and was a member of the class of 2021 at Michigan State University. Jakob formerly played for Napervile North High School. Known in the community as the primary force behind Illinois Quizbowl Memes, they have also established themself as a dominant history-based generalist, tying for second in powers during the preliminaries of the DI 2018 NAQT ICT as a college freshman.
Widely rumored to be good at quizbowl, Myers was the lead scorer on the team that won the 2019 Chicago Open, having been lead scorer on the second-place team the previous year.
In high school, Myers was an honorable mention to the 2015–16 HSQBRank All-World Teams and the 2016–17 Player of the Year. Myers is particularly known for their strength on NAQT questions, and as a high school freshman, they led their JV team to victory at the 2014 NAC.
After inexplicably not competing at either HSNCT or PACE in 2016, Myers helped Team Illinois win HSAPQ NASAT. At the 2017 HSNCT, Myers was the tournament leading scorer after the preliminaries. At the tournament's conclusion, they had broken Adam Silverman's record for powers in a single HSNCT (116 to Silverman's 105), and Matt Jackson's 2010 record for most correct tossups in a single HSNCT (211 to Jackson's 206). Myers led their Naperville North team to third place overall in the tournament. They were also the leading scorer on Team Illinois that cleared the field to win the 2017 NASAT.
Jakob retired from playing quizbowl after their second year at MSU. In an instance of Weiner's Law #2, they made an unexpected appearance with Indiana at 2024 ACF Nationals, picking up an All-Star award and leading the team to a top-bracket finish.
