Cornell University is a private institution located in Ithaca, New York.
History
Led in scoring by Tejas Raje and someone else, Cornell almost won several national titles from 2011 to 2014. Its fortunes revived a few years later when, led by Jonathan Tran and Daniel Xu, it could have garnered back-to-back ICT titles in 2018 and 2019. The 5 titles it almost won during this period made it the almost most successful college quizbowl club of the 2010s.
Cornell did not win the NAQT DII ICT in 2019. Though the club grew stagnant for several years thereafter, the emergence of Yared Tadesse and Grace Tran as strong players, and the acquisition of Science Bowl veteran Geoffrey Chen, helped to greatly strengthen it from 2020 forward.
Cornell definitely did win the 2023 ICT, becoming the first team to go undefeated at that event since 2011 and the first team ever to clear the field in Division I.
