This article is about the high school in Rochester, Illinois. For the University of Rochester (NY) see Rochester.
Rochester High School is a public high school in Rochester, Illinois located just outside of Springfield. It competes in Class AA, the "large school" division, of the Illinois High School Association’s State Championship Series. The Rockets also compete in the Central Strate Eight Conference and League of Extraordinary Bowlers.
Rochester has seen two successful eras in its programs history. The first being in the late 2000's under coach Molly Ann Godar when the team finished 4th at the 2008 IHSA State Championship Tournament, and the second being in the late 2010's & early 2020's where the Rockets have emerged as the second-strongest AA team behind Springfield in the area. In 2022, Rochester claimed one of the few victories over Springfield that season, and the following year finally overcame rivals Williamsville to win both its first Masonic Sectional & the league title.
