Erik Nelson is the president and chief editor of Play Quiz Bowl, the makers of the annual ACRONYM pop culture tournament. As an editor, he has produced every ACRONYM released since 2014, and has done the same for every Super ACRONYM, TOEJAM, and several other sets. He is also the founder of the Bounceback Foundation, a non-profit focused on mental health awareness and suicide prevention in the quiz bowl community and elsewhere.

As a competitor, Erik is an accomplished pop culture player in both the quiz bowl and trivia circuits, having posted strong finishes at Chicago Open Trash and the Pop Solos event in the Online Quiz League. He played high school quiz bowl at Roseville and, albeit very briefly, at the University of Minnesota. At the former, he competed in the 2001 National Academic Championship.
