VCU Open is an annual summer open tournament hosted and written by VCU and its affiliates, including Matt Weiner.

2009
The difficulty of VCU Open was toned down somewhat, and it involved some impromptu submissions from people such as Aaron Cohen.
2010
In 2010, VCU Open was expanded into two tournaments: VCU Open Saturday at a difficulty level between Regionals and Nationals, and the more beginner-friendly VCU Open Sunday at a difficulty level somewhere between the PACE NSC and ACF Regionals. Everyone played both sets regardless, and much fun was had by all. Michigan and UCSD helped write the 32 packets in total that made up both sets.
2011
VCU Open 2011 was held at Maryland and coupled with a trash tournament written by Mike Cheyne and George Berry.
