Won the National Academic Championship with an all-junior team consisting of Eric Biber, Billy Broaddus, Joann Chan, and Peter Hopewell, and coached by Charles Wiltshire, defeating White Plains in the final.
Peter Hopewell read four books, totaling 1700 pages, during breaks in the tournament.
According to a newspaper article, "Chip Beall, creator of the tournament and founder of Questions Unlimited, the company that provides the questions, said Collegiate in 1990 was 'just about the best team we've ever seen.'"
