The 2004 National Scholastic Championship was won by Maggie Walker. The tournament was held at the University of Maryland.
Tournament results
Maggie Walker came back from a 150-point deficit with 6 stretch round questions remaining to defeat Thomas Jefferson 395-345 in the finals. Richard Montgomery and St. John's were defeated in the semifinals, by Maggie Walker and Thomas Jefferson respectively. This was the only year in which the NSC final was contested by two teams from the same state.
The tournament used the old PACE NSC tournament format including an all-in consolation playoff.
Individual results
This was the last year in which the NSC stats were not released in a normal SQBS-like format immediately after the tournament. All stats beginning with 2005 are available at the PACE and HSQB websites. The full statistical records from 2004 were located in 2020 and are currently being processed into SQBS format for posting.
