Rule Changes

"Minus 5" penalties (or negs) were introduced for the first time in Reach since the CBC era. Incorrect interruptions during "snapper" or category questions now cost teams 5 points. Unlike other rule changes introduced at Nationals in previous years, negs did not appear during the regular season in 2007-08 until Nationals. Interestingly, the penalties are still not listed in the "national rules... used at the national finals".

No new question formats were introduced. What-am-I questions were moved to the front of the packets to avoid having 80-point swings at the end of a match (such as with the 2001 Gloucester victory).
