Chris Rantz is the co-founder of the current incarnation of Brandeis Quiz Bowl (1999-), along with Scott Bleiweis. He successfully convinced the Brandeis administration to end its affiliation with CBI, allowing the nascent squad to play in several circuit events each year.
In the fall of 1999, Rantz's authority was challenged by Andy Tirrell, who set up his own quiz bowl organization at Brandeis. Rantz and Tirrell came to an agreement in which Brandeis Quiz Bowl would remain the school's officially recognized team.
In 2000, Rantz was a "Hot Seat" contestant on the first season of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? He subsequently appeared on the Rosie O'Donnell Show.[1] He was also a member of Brandeis' 2001 ICT Division II team.
After college, Rantz stayed active in the trash (pop culture) circuit, leading his team to the 2007 New England TRASH Regionals Championship.
