Egghead Invitational
General
The Egghead Invitational is an annual NAQT Middle School tournament held at Fairview Middle Scool, in Tallahassee, Florida.
First Tournament
The inaugural Egghead Invitational held on March 28, 2015, was won by Montford, who beat Midtown Classical 330 - 245 in the final.
Ethan Leeman of Midtown Classical A was the preliminary MVP, with 73.42 PPG.
Second Tournament
The second Egghead Invitational held on November 7, 2015, was won by the host team Fairview A captained by Ursula Humayun. Even though Midtown Classical A's PPG was nearly 100 higher than Fairview's PPG over the course of the tournament, Fairview won the final 315 - 135.
Ryan McElroy from Sacred Heart Homeschool was the preliminary MVP, with 111.27 PPG.
Third Tournament
The Third Egghead Invitational held on October 22, 2016, showcased the rapid improvement of Midtown Classical, who managed to achieve a Power Percentage of 75.2%. Unsurprisingly, Midtown Classical stomped their competition, beating their own B team in an uncontested 480 - 175 final.
Midtown Classical A's captain Robert Muniz was the preliminary MVP with 121.12 PPG.
Fourth Tournament
The Fourth Egghead Invitational held on October 14, 2017 was won by Midtown Classical B in a staggering 320 - 250 upset over Midtown Classical A (which had out PPGed them by over 100). Also of note, Robert Muniz managed to score 17 power and 3 tossups in an 835-0 record over Montford A, setting several NAQT records for most points and powers scored.
Unsurprisingly, Robert Muñiz was the preliminary MVP with a staggering 174.68 PPG.
