Redwood

Redwood Middle School is a middle school in Saratoga, CA. Redwood's quizbowl team was founded towards the end of the 2022 quizbowl season by the then-captain of Saratoga High Schooll, which Redwood feeds into, Siddharth Kamannavar. From its first year until the end of the 2024 season, Redwood's A team was captained by Arjun Vijaykumar, who won the Rising Star with 55 PP20TUH at Redwood's third ever individual tournament, the 2022 MSNCT, though the team itself only finished 98th. By its second year, Arjun, along with Harini Ramakrishan, led a top bay area team, which was the second highest-placing team at MSNCT-23 without an eight grader on the roster, finishing 8th. Into the 23-24 season, however, Redwood's consistently high placement began to waver as its players did not improve and the team began to lose its competitiveness. This was ended by a spectatular turnaround following studying binges by all members of the team, culminating in a first place finish at the South Bay Spring Middle tournament, where Arjun and Harini fell just short of Breaking the Hoppes-Mikanowski Limit, with Harini finishing with 65 PPG, and Arjun with a whopping 110. At MSNCT-24, Redwood received the 7th seed, and had a relatively easy path to a third place finish, but lost to Avery Trace and Taylor Chen in a massive upset, finishing thirteenth.
