Richard Cordray is the former Attorney General of Ohio who in 2011 became the first person nominated to head the enforcement division of the United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
When he attended Grove City High School in Ohio, Cordray was on a team that won a local television quiz show called In the Know. He later participated on the Michigan State quizbowl team [1], which placed highly at the two existing national tournaments during his senior year.
Cordray was also a five-time champion on Jeopardy!, a fact noted by President Obama at a press conference announcing Cordray’s nomination.
