Richard Mageau
Richard Mageau is a retired teacher who has visited various Ottawa-area high schools. The 1994 Bell, 1998 Gloucester, and 2000 Merivale teams have won Reach for the Top national championships under his watch, though he never served as an official coach. His secret is unknown, but he has several connections in Reach and devoted much of his retirement to the program. The Ottawa Schoolreach League trophy is named in recognition of the work he has done at several schools.
Mageau intended to stay with Merivale indefinitely after their 2000 championship, but a province-wide work-to-rule teacher's strike dissolved the team's practices. He has since stopped coaching schools due to health. Mageau later moved to Vancouver and started helping at the BC provincial tournaments.
