The "must qualify" rule
According to NAQT's conversations with MSHSAA, this also excludes standby teams, but it's the school that must qualify, not a team — so a B-team wildcard (or standby team) would be okay if the A team qualified. I don't know if that's the sort of detail you care to include. Jonah (talk) 22:21, 23 March 2017 (CDT)
I knew the by-law referred to a "school" qualifying and remember Rock Bridge getting a standby B team into HSNCT last year without ever qualifying two teams to my knowledge, so it's great to know that is officially OK, especially given the less generous interpretations of certain other MSHSAA rules. I'll edit that in. Jeffrey Hill (talk) 11:36, 26 March 2017 (CDT)
Sounds good. Surely you realize this on some level, but I should make it explicit: I don't speak for MSHSAA, and if they're anything like certain other athletic associations I've dealt with, they may change their interpretations/rulings without notice. Jonah (talk) 23:48, 26 March 2017 (CDT)
