"I have seen the replies to the cursing post and they deeply disturb me(I mean deeply not shallow but deep.) How can someone post an anti freedom of speech messege on Internet? Internet was here before you were even born but somehow you decide you need to goose-step into someone's world and dictate what you think should be done." How was it an anti-freedom of speech message? All I saw was a reasonable request, with which I may or may not comply. And are you doing a little goose-stepping of your own, by suggesting that people can't post _requests_ (not orders) for more polite behavior? (Not that I'm necessarily going to stop cursing.) "And this offensive thing. I find what you(whoever posted it) posted to be very offensive, a slap in the face of our country. NO, I will not attempt to give an excuse for cursing because cursing in a free format(Internet) needs no excuse." Didn't George Carlin say that if you were using the Seven Words You Can't Say on Radio/TV for shock value, then you aren't saying them enough? And the US deserves to be slapped in the face a lot. "You said cursing at practise is hardly justifiable, maybe this is true if you are living in Nazi Germany but in the US the only justification you need is the first amendment." My apologies if this turns into political flaming, but you've just hit a raw nerve. It's almost as if we've developed this silly political solipsism of individual rights in our country, where we are actors in a vacuum, and for the purpose of rights, no one else exists or matters. We do not exist in a vacuum, and we should constrain our actions while taking into account how we affect others. We've also fallen to the point that we confuse legality with morality or justice or any other concept of right and wrong. No one considers anymore whether they ought to do something, only whether they can. And they complain whenever they can't do everything they want to do. "The only position you take is that cursing offends people and you should think before you type. Yes freedom has a tendency to offend people, some people just dont want to welcome expression." Well, let me use my free amendment rights to declare that anyone who never takes into account other people is an ass. (Of course, some people I fully intend to offend on purpose.) I hope I've offended someone.
