>From Ms. Hamlin ...
"My question: Which
was their biggest victory, out of all the
invitational, junior bird, regional, national, conference,
sectional, whatever, tournament victories? Note that I do
not want to start a format war; I'm not asking which
format is *better*, but which tournament victory carries
with it the most prestige. Oh, and also, of course,
why. :-)"
The escapist realist answer is that
they'd never mention success at one tournament - they'd
simply say 'championship quiz bowl team' and be done
with it.
I can, however, see any national
championship but TRASH being considered worthy (save for
Syracuse's school of TV studies (I think)). CBI has more
history and is better known, ACF has a strict academic
bent that most schools would like to crow about
success in, and NAQT presents a good melding that is more
popular than ACF and harder than CBI. Each has its own
selling points.
