Well... yes and no. I had considered stepping up before, but I figured that I probably wouldn't be taken seriously, since I am relatively new to quiz bowl and not an exceptional player, and thus pretty much unknown on the circuit. Since the need for a site seems pretty urgent, please let me introduce myself. My name is Michael Falk. I'm a second year grad student in meteorology at Iowa State University, and also am starting my second year of quiz bowl. I've been to a few tournaments around the midwest, such as Illinois Novice, FUCT, Deep Bench, and Elvis. I'm currently the Webmaster/Historian for Iowa State's team, so if you'd like to check out an example of my work, http://www.stuorg.iastate.edu/quiz/ is the place to go. I would be more than willing to create and maintain a site where future tournaments and their information are kept, along with a historical archive with statistics from past tournaments. In two years of working as a programmer for a web design company, I learned enough about PHP and MySQL that we could do this easily on a database-driven site. I've got the storage space and the bandwidth to spare. > I propose that we, the circuit, bribe someone to run such a site. I think it would look pretty bad for me to offer to take a bribe. Talk about starting off on the wrong foot... Keeping a packet archive of old tournaments is something that could be done easily, however. I'd be willing. Is anyone else interested in the existence of such a site? If you've got any ideas for me, positive or negative comments, whatever, you can find me on AOL Instant Messenger at MikeyJoe27, or please drop me a line at mjf27 at iastate dot edu. Sincerely, -Michael Falk
