I agree with the person who (I think) said that one reason for question-quality issues is the dinosaur factor. If a newbie team writes a pack and is then told by an nth-year player/team their pack was way too easy (even after editing), they are likely to try and write impossibly hard questions in the future so as to forestall that criticism. What criticism is likely to ensue after that impossible round is used? The dinosaur won't complain because either A) he thought it was fine or B) complaining about its impossibility makes him look stupid. Anyone else who complains can be told either A) the dinosaurs didn't complain, so keep quiet or B) study harder and it won't be impossible next time. So teams often have relatively little frame of reference, given the known problems with "I wrote it and _I_ didn't think it was hard." On a slightly tangential topic, people don't even seem to be willing to get paid _cash_ for questions any more. Within the last 12 months, I've seen two ads on the list for "get paid to write questions" from known people on the circuit (not from spam) (one of which I put up myself) and seen exactly _one_ taker for each ad (I was told later that I was the lone taker for the ad I didn't put up). Those of you not willing to write for cash when those chances come up, is it purely lack of time, or because you're not paid enough, or what? I would just be curious to know.
