Jason: Having been told by many that I'm an obnoxious player myself, I can understand at least a little where you're coming from, although I've personally tried to tone it down a bit. I understand that you want others to recognize your accomplishments, and they have, by awarding you trophies for tournaments that you've won so far. But if you really want to impress the other players on the circuit, don't tell us how you want to get your team onto that incredibly artificial poll; keep on studying, getting better and winning tournaments. Also, if you think that your team is better than another team, that's fine, but keep it to yourself. As someone on my team reminded me yesterday, anything can happen in a game, and nothing is for certain. And if you start talking smack and then you lose, it looks a whole lot worse than if you had simply lost the game. You've also got to remember how many awesome teams there are out there. Personally, every time I think I'm gaining ground and getting better, there's always a Michigan or a Chicago (or heck, even getting the crap kicked out of me in practice by our grad students) to remind me what my place is and make me study harder. Maybe you guys don't play dominant teams like Michigan and Chicago as often as we do, but trust me, it's both an amazing and humbling experience. So yeah, I know I've said a lot, and I hope some of it is having its desired effect. Jason, you're certainly not a bad player, but you're also not nearly as good as you think you are (are you the one who voted Mizzou as high as seventh in the poll? Because if so, I believe you may need to re-think that). Jason, if you have any questions, remarks, or complaints about this post, feel free to e-mail me at potru at students dot uiuc dot edu. The only reason I didn't e-mail you directly is because I thought that would be sort of intrusive. In any case, have a nice day, and I look forward to hearing your response. Sudheer UIUC
