Nevertheless, considering that the question about "Zaire/DR > of the C" was current events, I don't think that there should have > been a prompt on "Zaire." Re-reading the original post, I saw no indication that it was a current-events question. If it wasn't a current-events question, I'd support prompting for obvious reasons; even if it was, I think I'd favor a prompt, as the game is (after all) supposed to test knowledge and speed, not determine who's better at avoiding minor mental lapses. As long as the player can provide the name upon being questioned, I see no reason to penalize him for it; it just turns the game into a anal-retention-fest, and if there's one thing CBI doesn't need more of, it's that. (Anyway, Zeus knows how many answers of "Great Britain... er... the United Kingdom" have been accepted, with -- when you think about it -- even less chronological justification than there would be here.) I'm a bit more bothered by the premise to begin with -- the very existence of a final... as far as I'm concerned, if DePauw is two games ahead of ND in the overall standings, and they're 2-0 against them, THEY WIN. That's it. Simple, no? (I may be a bit biased here, as BU was stuck having to play a third game against Brandeis despite being in a similar situation. We won, but I remember being well prepared to complain mightily and verbosely in the event that they managed the comeback.) ECN (Not speaking for) BU College Bowl
