I wanted to reiterate what some other people have already said and add some of my own comments about this past weekend's ICT. I had a great time at the tournament; I thought it was well run and it was enjoyable to play many teams that we don't normally see. All of the competitors were friendly as well, which was nice. The moderators were really good. Since D2 had really good moderators, I can only assume the same for D1. The questions were good as well. I don't have a vast knowledge of future ICT packets, but this is as good a set as I remember playing on. I thought all the subjects were fairly balanced and I only remember 1 denied protest on the D2 questions. I am sure that the math did not have the problems that people commented on from sectionals, so kudos to NAQT for fixing this. I really enjoyed these questions and felt that they really tested who was the best team. I wonder if we set some sort of record. We lost two matches in tiebreakers on the first night(one went five questions) and another by 15 points! Instead of ending up in the top 8, we ended up in the bottom 8. While this was very disappointing, it did not take away from the enjoyment of the tournament(and added to the chaos of the 5 way tie). I only have one real complaint and that dealt with logistics. It was a very far walk from De Neve to the competition buildings. Parking wasn't dealt with very well(no one really seemed to have an answer for us) and we had to park by De Neve. I know there were closer parking lots, but we weren't allowed to park there without the threat of a ticket. At least we got to see the UCLA campus! Even though we finished 26th/32 and DI is going to be tough next year, I had such a great time that I am committed to working so that I can go to another ICT next year. It was also nice to see all of the Wash U alumni floating around the place(I think there were at least 4 that I can remember). That's all I can remember(for now, at least). I may add some additional comments later. Thanks to NAQT and UCLA for a great tournament! Joel Gluskin Wash U Academic Team President
