Howdy, all-- Valencia Community College will host its seventh annual Delta Burke Invitational (named for our most famous alum)on Friday, November 7, and Saturday, November 8. This tournament is open to any students currently enrolled in a community college. Packet submission is encouraged; if one is interested in bringing one's team, please contact me at cborglum at valenciacc dot edu for specifications, or check our website at http://wp.valencia.cc.fl.us/brainbowl The general entry fee will be $125, with discounts for bringing buzzers and submitting packs, the specifics of which can be found on the website above. As I will likely be writing the lion's share of the tournament, I'd love to have help with science tosses and boni; some of you out there helped me with this last fall. I'm willing to trade the full tournament set (possibly including previous sets, depending on amount of science written) or even cold, hard cash. Again, contact me at the address above if you'd like to write some science this summer. And a final request: I continue to be interested in connecting with community college teams or whole state systems that are involved in the game. Currently I'm aware of thriving circuits in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kansas, and that's about it. If you are aware of community colleges that play in your area, please contact them and ask them to get in touch with me. I'm especially hopeful that some of you in New York, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and California might look into your local CC and find out if they have a program--these are all states with strongly linked CCs and the large population centers that generally lead to thriving CC systems. I'd like to see more teams made aware of the game and especially of the participation of CCs in the NAQT ICT. Thanks a bunch. --chris borglum
