Just a reminder to those who might not know, The 2003 edition of the Chicago Open and accompanying singles tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday, July 26th and 27th. The team tournament will consist of rounds of 20 tossups and accompanying bonuses in the ACF distribution with trash thrown in for good measure and will be written by me with much appreciated help from Seth Teitler and Paul Lujan on the science. As of this moment, I have 9 teams registered and would really like 10 (The cap is 14 but that's not happening), so if you're thinking about it you should come on out. The questions should be challenging and solid, and there will be some great competition. My sources, being me, tell me that some of the game's all time greats will be playing (excepting Jason Mueller that is). The base fee is $95 with buzzer discounts involved. The singles tournament held on Sunday will follow the Hillemann format of three preliminary seeding rounds, followed by a bracketed double elim. The distribution will be like NAQT sans current events and general knowledge. The questions will be written by myself with much needed science help from Seth Teitler. The entry fee is $10 and there will be prizes, mostly in the form of books awarded. This is usually a pretty fun event with very accessible questions. You'll also have some great competition. Right now I have about 25 players, and won't go any higher than 32, possibly 36. Please e-mail me at suby10 at yahoo dot com or subash at uchicago dot edu Thanks, Subash
