In a tournament that saw more people drop than the opening credits of Quincy, three, three, three tournaments in one were held in the venerable quiz bowl staging grounds -- Kevin Olmstead's house. The traditional singles tournament was held, followed by a drafted doubles tournament and one 4-on-4 game to determine four different champions. The singles tournament was held first: Craig Barker 6-0 Mike Burger 5-1 Joe Wright 4-2 Stan Jastrzebski 3-3 Amanda Hartman 1-5 (won three way tiebreaker 205-200-155) Julie Stahlhut 1-5 Emily Moore 1-5 For the doubles round, the last place person picked first and so on up the line until everybody was on a team. To make this work, Dave Thorsley was added to make the field 8 teams: Stan/Dave 2-1 (defeated Emily/Craig 235-190) Emily/Craig 2-1 Mike/Julie 1-2 (defeated Joe/Amanda 205-125) Amanda/Joe 1-2 Finally, a traditional 4-on-4 game was played, scrambling the doubles team. The team of Craig/Julie/Amanda/Dave defeated Mike/Joe/Emily/Stan 295-275 in a tiebreaker thriller. Thanks to Kevin Olmstead for reading and hosting, Mike Davidson for reading the whole way and Dave Thorsley for reading in the singles portion. Also thanks to your genial packet trader Charlie Steinhice for providing the packets necessary for the doubles and quad game. --Mike Burger
