Assuming relatively standard conditions, the correct answer to
this question is approximately 1000, without any units; any
answer with units that do not cancel (e.g. 1 kg) is inherently and
trivially wrong. However, the written answer to the question
adheres to the backward quizbowl tradition of asking for a
unitless quantity, and then accepting or even demanding (c.f.
IHSA Scholastic Bowl) a quantity with units. Therefore, the only
correct thing to do is to accept a response of 1 kilogram if the
rules do not explicitly and unambiguously forbid one's doing so.
