Hello, I suppose this is just nitpicking, but I wanted to mention a few questions that I took issue with during Cardinal Classic. I made no protests during the game, by the way. I also make no claim to remembering exactly what was asked. :) *I study biology, and I have been taught that the name "HOX" only applies to vertebrates, whereas invertebrates have "HOM" genes. While nomenclature differs, everyone agrees on what *homeotic* genes are (also, it is the most general title). I was aware that homeotic genes were first found in Drosophila, but asking for "HOX" was somewhat misleading. *"The artist is the creator of beautiful things" ... in my copy of "The Picture of Dorian Gray", that's found in the preface. The question said "first line of the work". While I answered it correctly, it was confusing. Is the line found in some other work that I've not read? *Stress is pressure and thus force/area, not force. (This complaint was made by an aero grad student who is an engineer, unlike me). For the most part, I was fine with the questions. I enjoyed the bewildered stares I received when I answered the zinc tossup. Several people were glancing at their fingers and wondering where the zinc was. ;) Regards, Irene Ying zhuy (at) its (dot) caltech (dot) edu __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
