I was hoping that some of the teams who had just cancelled due to what I see as fairly amendable circumstances would reconsider or try to work something out, and also prevent anyone else from dropping out. I can respect this attempt. But might I suggest that appeals work better when dealt with on a more personal basis? On the upside, you did raise a valid point to the list, which has its own purpose. But it WAS meant to make every single person think about how much your team dropping out affects the school hosting the tournament and those attending. On behalf of future DPU tournaments and any tournament your school may attend: if there is even the SLIGHTEST chance that you might not attend (due to transportation, money issues, etc) PLEASE let the TD know right away, before confirming. I know I appreciate it, as I'm sure other TDs do as well. Certainly courtesy is appreciated, keeping TDs abreast of your status (such as calling if you'll be late due to something). But you bring up how this affects the tournament. Certainly, it requires the tournament's structure to change a bit, butay number of things affect how a tournament runs. Embracing this is part of the fun, right? But I don't think that it's just a pain for the TDs. It's also less than ideal for the teams, who had been planning on attending. All that time writing and (arguably) editing a packet, the paperwork and organizing involved int the trip, and presumably the excitement of competition. Those who do attend can still get an enjoyable experience of it too. -Dan Blim =) --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
