Stan -- NAQT is committed to an open relationship with the players, coaches, and institutional staff associated with quiz bowl throughout the country; in principle, we would welcome an opportunity to answer questions and/or engage in a dialogue about our policies, practices, and vision. In the name of "not pulling any punches," however, the ICT would be an inconvenient time for us to hold a panel discussion. Even setting aside the fact that we are often quite busy that weekend with the tournament, that is the only weekend each year that most of our members see each other and we have traditionally milked that opportunity for all it's worth to lay our plans for the coming year and resolve any internal conflicts that might have arisen. At the very least, I and other members of NAQT would be happy to publicly answer questions that are posted in this forum or to privately answer those that are e-mailed to us. If somebody wants to go to the trouble of collecting and posting anonymized questions, that would be fine as well. Please note that we cannot promise to answer *every* possible question that might be asked; things concerning our internal finances, our business plans in competitive markets, and so forth would clearly be off-limits. In general, though, we are happy to discuss our policies and ideals and the reasons behind them. It is also unlikely that we would choose to reveal the formula for the S- values, though specific questions about how it worked might be fair game. -- R.
